Every once in a while, a project comes along that not only challenges us but also allows us to give back to the community that supports our passion for 3D printing and cosplay. This is the story of how a simple customer request turned into a community resource.

The Request: Recently, a customer approached us with a specific need: a pair of shin armor and a set of DC-17 holsters styled after the "Animated Old Captain Rex". This project was not just about replicating details but about capturing the essence of a beloved character in a way that resonated with fans.

Our Process: Our 3D modeler jumped at the challenge. Using detailed images and references from the series, we meticulously crafted each piece to ensure it stayed true to the animated style. The process involved multiple iterations and adjustments to get every detail just right, from the unique contours of the shin armor to the distinctive design of the holsters.

The finished result.

Community Sharing: Once we completed the models and fulfilled the customer's order, we decided to take a step further. Understanding the passion of the cosplay community and their appreciation for accessible resources, we released the 3D files for both the shin armor and the DC-17 holsters to the public. These files are available for download at no cost, for non-commercial use, to help other fans bring their version of Captain Rex to life.

Conclusion:  By sharing these resources, we hope to inspire and support other enthusiasts in their creative endeavors. If you have your own 3D printer and are ready to start building your own piece of the Clone wars universe, click the link below to download the files and begin your journey.
